ベースとなるのは、糸から設計した弊社オリジナルの裏毛素材です。コットンならではの自然な表情を活かしながら、着古したようなドライなタッチと、適度なコシ感を両立するよう仕上げています。生地段階での設計により、後加工による経年変化が美しく現れることを前提とした素材です。

完成した製品には、ダメージが馴染むようにブラスト加工を施しています。これは製品染め後に、衿や袖口、裾まわりなど、実際の着用で擦れやすい部分にポイントを絞ってアタリを出すことで、より自然なエイジングを演出するものです。手仕事による個体差が、かえって一点一点に個性を与え、奥行きのある表情に仕上がります。

さらに、プリントには抜染技法を採用。製品染めの上から、特定の色を抜いて柄を出すという高度な手法です。日本国内では対応可能な工場が限られており、海外拠点との連携によって実現しています。今回は UCLA のオフィシャルライセンスアイテムとして、2パターンのデザインを製品化。いずれも、プリントのかすれや色の深みが特徴で、通常のラバープリントや顔料プリントでは得られない仕上がりとなっています。

At Shuttle Notes, we took on the challenge of reinterpreting the character of vintage sweatshirts from a modern perspective. This project involved the development of our original fleece fabric, as well as the application of advanced garment processing techniques.

The foundation of the product is a fleece material designed entirely from the yarn up. It features the natural texture of cotton, combined with a dry touch and moderate structure that evokes the feeling of a well-worn sweatshirt. The fabric is specifically engineered to age beautifully through post-dyeing processes.

Once the garment is constructed and dyed, we apply blast processing to create a natural worn-in look. By focusing the treatment on areas like the collar, cuffs, and hem—where friction naturally occurs during wear—we enhance the garment’s authentic vintage character. The variation created by handwork gives each piece a unique and dimensional appearance.

Furthermore, we adopted a discharge printing technique, which involves removing color from dyed garments to create graphics. Due to technical limitations, this method is difficult to execute domestically in Japan and was realized through collaboration with overseas facilities. In this case, we produced two official licensed designs for UCLA. The natural fading and soft texture of the discharge print offers a level of depth not achievable with typical rubber or pigment prints.

Through this project, Shuttle Notes has demonstrated the ability to provide comprehensive solutions beyond fabric supply alone. From yarn and weaving to garment dyeing, special processing, and printing—we can offer integrated development tailored to your brand’s vision.

Shuttle Notes는 빈티지 스웻셔츠의 감성을 현대적인 시각으로 재해석하는 프로젝트를 통해, 오리지널 기모 원단의 개발과 특수 가공 기술의 응용에 도전했습니다.

제품의 기반이 되는 원단은 실 단계부터 설계한 Shuttle Notes만의 오리지널 기모 소재입니다. 면 소재 고유의 자연스러운 텍스처와, 오랜 시간 착용한 듯한 드라이한 터치, 적당한 탄성을 함께 갖추고 있습니다. 후가공을 거치며 시간이 지남에 따라 더욱 멋스럽게 변화하는 것을 전제로 한 설계입니다.

제작된 제품에는 블라스트 가공이 적용되어, 빈티지한 느낌이 자연스럽게 배어 나오도록 마감됩니다. 이는 제품 염색 후, 목둘레와 소매, 밑단 등 마모가 일어나기 쉬운 부분을 중심으로 마찰 효과를 주는 가공입니다. 수작업으로 이루어지는 처리 방식이기 때문에, 제품마다 고유한 개성을 지니며 입체감 있는 결과물이 완성됩니다.

또한, 프린트에는 디스차지(탈색) 프린트 기법을 채택했습니다. 염색된 제품 위에서 특정 부위의 염료를 제거하며 문양을 표현하는 고난도 기술로, 일본 내에서는 설비의 제약상 생산이 어려운 가공입니다. 해외 협력 파트너와의 연계를 통해 실현되었으며, 이번에는 UCLA 공식 라이선스 디자인 2종을 제품화했습니다. 디스차지 프린트 특유의 자연스러운 번짐과 깊이감은 일반 고무 프린트나 안료 프린트로는 구현하기 어려운 특징입니다.

Shuttle Notes는 단순한 원단 공급을 넘어, 제품 완성까지의 일관된 제작 제안이 가능합니다. 브랜드가 지향하는 이미지에 맞추어 실, 직물, 봉제, 염색, 프린트까지 전방위적인 대응이 가능합니다.
